#23: Did you know that you can hyperlink your files/documents within a story? Anytime you update content on your site, you have the option of creating links so your website visitors are able to quickly and easily access a particular file that you may reference. To enable hyperlinks within your stories, you must first upload the file to the “Download” section of the site. To do this:
  1. Login as usual and click on Admin.
  2. Click on “Edit Download Files” under the Website Manager section.
  3. Click “Add New File” on the top right.
  4. Fill out all the required information.
  5. Click on “Browse… “ and select the file for upload. (Note: you also have the selection to make this file not visible on the homepage, to do this click on the dropdown menu and click on “Do Not Show It In Homepage).”
  6. Click “Save”.

In order to link this file in your content, while still in the “Edit Downloaded Files” section (after the file is successfully uploaded) please follow these steps:

  1. Click “View” beside the appropriate file name.
  2. A new page will then open, copy the link that displays in the address bar.
  3. Edit or create a new story/bulletin/email where you would like to display a link to this document.
  4. Type in a word or phrase in which you want people to click to download the document such as “Please click here to download the registration form”
  5. Highlight the word/phrase to which you would like to link.
  6. In the editor, click on the Create Link icon, a window will then pop up, paste the link you copied earlier into the text box labelled URL and click OK.

Now Available: Email Bounce back Reports

You asked and we listened! Now you able to monitor whether or not your email messages were received with the recently released email bounce back report feature!

Anyone who sends out an email will receive a Delivery Status Notification (Delay) email, which will show the sender, the date the email was sent, the number of emails undelivered and the list of members who didn’t receive the email, including their full name and email address. This is a great way to find out if a member’s profile is current and prompt them to update it.

Please note that this report is generated and emailed to the sender automatically a few hours after the email has been sent. Due to the nature of bounce backs, it may take a few hours before all undelivered messages are logged. As a result, you will get updated reports as the list of undeliverable messages increase.

For more information about this feature update, please contact ClubRunner Support.

Communication is key

Ways to communicate have truly come a long way. Gone are the days of hand writing letters and sending telegrams that take weeks to arrive. Now everyone wants to be in the know and have access to information instantly and it’s more than possible to accommodate this request. With cell phones, smart phones, the worldwide web and all the applications that are made for them to enhance and promote quick contact, it’s no wonder that people everywhere young and old are jumping on this bandwagon.

People are keen on sharing their experiences as a tactic to inform others about the opportunities that are available for them. Social Media allows for this easy integration. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Blogging and You Tube are examples of collaborative tools that are paving the way for 21st century listening, learning and sharing. Many ClubRunner users are finding the benefits to linking their social media accounts to their web site to increase traffic to their site and encourage interaction among users. Check out some clubs and districts that have incorporated this strategy District 5040, Rotary Club of San Francisco, District 5280, Rotary Club of Willowbrook, North Delta Rotary Club

Week 19: Tip of the Week

#19: Did you know that if you don’t update your website frequently visitors will not come back?

There are 4 reasons why it’s important to constantly maintain your website:

  1. Fresh material added regularly to your site keeps visitors coming back to see what's new.
  2. Websites must continually evolve and be developed to meet the increasing demands of your audience, as well as reflect the latest technology and trends.
  3. The success of your site is relative to whether people can find your site from a search engine. Link to other relevant sites and ask other webmasters to link their sites to yours. Examples include other community websites, District site, your neighbouring clubs and Rotary International’s registry of websites.
  4. There should always be a constant and designated person to supervise your site and keep it running smoothly.
If any of these components are missing, visitors will lose interest and look elsewhere for information, which will cause the traffic on your site to decrease. If you’re already using ClubRunner, attend the Website Manager & eBulletin and Site Pages Management web training sessions to help you gain more insight as to how to keep your website content current and your traffic always busy!
